Second Week of 2023 Spawning Continues

2023 Chinook Salmon Egg Harvest Continues.

To date, we have sent 108,600 eggs to ODFW’s hatchery at Elk River and keeping 63,160 at the Gardiner hatchery.

Eggs are hand spawned and held in clean buckets. Eggs and sperm are mixed, fertilized eggs are placed in Redd Zone Incubation Boxes where they will be held until they are “eyed”.

There are still about a dozen fish in the broodstock holding pond. They will be ripe and spawned next week. Their eggs will be kept at the Gardiner hatchery.
