Salmon Pre-Smolt Fin Clipping


It’s Fin Clipping Time
Our juvenal salmon are ready to be Adipose fin clipped. This clipping will identify returning adult salmon as “wild” (non-fin clipped) or S.T.E.P. hatchery fish (fin-clipped).
Clipping will begin Saturday morning, May 31st. at 8:00 am at the Gardiner STEP hatchery. We have approximately 25,000 fish to process. A free lunch will be provided.
If you don’t want to stand on your feet for an extended time, bring a tall Director’s chair or bar stool for seating at the clipping table.
Clipping is open to all adults who wish to help out.
